Zarlink

Zarlink Semiconductor was a specialized semiconductor manufacturer, primarily focused on designing and producing highly integrated circuits for medical, communications, and optoelectronics applications. Founded in 2001 following a spin-off from Mitel Corporation, the company established itself as a leader in low-power, high-performance analog and mixed-signal solutions. Key products included ultra-low-power radio frequency transceivers, timing and synchronization devices, and advanced system-on-chip solutions for medical implants like pacemakers and hearing aids. Zarlink was also known for its strong presence in networking and telecommunications infrastructure, providing critical timing and voice processing components. The company was acquired by Microsemi Corporation in 2011, and its technologies and product lines were later integrated into Microchip Technology following subsequent acquisitions.
